Military Scandal
Being a lifelong military leader in Spain (left-wing republic), Francisco Franco was a right-wing monarchist who rose through the ranks until the 1930's. Even though he had been demoted, in 1935, he was named the chief of the staff of the Spanish Army. He proceeded to take this power to the extent by purging the army hierarchy of left-wing figures and strengthened military institutions. Rebellion soon broke out while the Spanish social and economic structure began to fall. This uprising was led by Franco, who eventually took this opportunity to take control of Spain following the Spanish Civil War.
